Interns in the Washington bureau will be expected to cover a range of government and political stories in and around the Washington area, as well as contribute to the stories of other reporters when necessary.
Applicants must have previous experience covering politics or government.
All interns are expected to actively use social media in the newsgathering process and could be asked to take smartphone photos or videos.
Some interns could be asked to cover a narrowly focused beat at the forefront of experiments to grow our digital audience.
Applicants should send no more than eight published clips or links. Clips may be reduced, but must be legible, or the application will be rejected.
The clips or links should focus on the specific position the applicant desires, but materials showing a variety of reporting and writing ability are acceptable.
A cover letter and rsum with references are required with all applications.
