Job DescriptionThe Learning Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction and/or tutoring for assigned courses to include, but not be limited to, implementing, revising, and evaluating assigned lessons; utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet program objectives. The Learning Specialist will report directly to the Center for Science and Math Education Coordinator.Essential Functions
- Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
- Prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students in subject areas such as Science, Math, English, History, or various electives. Develop appropriate instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.
- Maintain records of student attendance, student progress, supplies, and equipment.
- Provide discipline and order during instructional activities.
- Demonstrate a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational co- workers, and other general public contacts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
- Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching.
- Experience working with high school students.
- Must have great technical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to evaluate student performance, manage classroom, prepare and deliver engaging projects and STAAR based lesson plans.
- This job description covers a position in which the percentage of time spent on the essential functions will vary based on the workload and will ultimately be determined by the supervisor.
- This is a new job title for MAARS and Upward Bound Instructors.
