ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Unload, identify, receive in, inspect and store a variety of materials and products. Parts and materials may be expensive or hazardous in some cases.
  • Verify materials against purchase orders for accuracy of the delivery. Count or weigh parts to check quantity accuracy. Inspect incoming parts against prints and adherence to specifications as required. Isolate materials not meeting specification.
  • Perform transactions in the stock process to enter new quantities and pull parts in accordance with pick lists. Issue parts and supplies according to stock and job orders. Issue materials to departments in the organization in accordance with the production schedule. This involves transacting stock quantities to the department and delivering the parts to the work area. The worker monitors the stockroom stock and reports discrepancies in quantities to supervisors.
  • Involves heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds, along with a wide range of physical movements: bending, reaching, lifting, squatting, and standing for long periods on concrete floor. Operate forklifts and lifting devices to move larger/heavier items.
  • Prepare parts or equipment for domestic or foreign shipments in accordance with shipping specifications and requirements. Pack parts or products in standard boxes or crates, cut and assemble crates, form up and staple paperboard boxes. Place locators and pads to prevent shifts and damage, seal cartons to ensure travel quality. Select packaged stock or parts from inventory in accordance with packing order instructions.
  • Measure, cut and assemble crates for large equipment, mount and secure equipment on skids for shipment. Load and secure products and related parts on trucks; brace, bolt, etc., to ensure rigidity and protection in transit. Attach shipping and handling instructions.
  • Work with Sales to prepare shipping papers and records for shipments and ensure proper labeling. Perform checking, boxing and weighing, loading and securing of shipments. Prepare specified finished standard products for shipment, including packing slip and required labels.
  • Observes company safety rules. During production hours, uses assigned protective devices. Involves heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds. Operate forklift, cranes and lifting devices to move larger/heavier items.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: High school diploma, or the equivalent in experience and knowledge.
  2. Experience:
    1. Minimum one year previous experience in a manufacturing shop environment.
    2. Two years packing/crating and shipping experience preferred.
    3. Experience utilizing on-line shipping programs through multiple carriers
    4. Previous exposure to inventory and material handling procedure

3. Skills and Knowledge

1. Ability to operate hand and power tools

2. Knowledge of simple measuring devices - scale, square, tape measure, etc.

3. Mechanical aptitude

4. Ability to read, write and do simple math

5. Ability to operate and get licensed on forklift

6. Knowledge of select appropriate containers to assure safe product transportation.

7. Basic computer and keyboarding knowledge.

4. Other Requirements:

  1. Ability to bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  2. Ability to give and follow directions accurately.
  3. Physical flexibility: ability to bend, squat, climb, and stand for long periods of time on concrete floor.
  4. Team worker, able to work with all departments, cooperative.

  6. Ability to cope with pressure and handle multiple tasks.
