Position Description

At the American Heart Association we're working to prevent, treat and defeat our nation's No. 1 killer, cardiovascular disease. Under the direction of the Caruth Grant Program Director, the EMS Liaison will coordinate with Dallas County, Texas, EMS service providers to implement consistent and improved protocols for all heart attack patients during assessment, treatment, and transport. The EMS Liaison will work with providers to collect and submit data in the Dallas County EMS database and assist in the development and implementation of EMS provider training and education for emergency heart attack care. The EMS Liaison will work with the Caruth Grant Program Director, and American Heart Association (AHA) leadership to achieve the AHA mission and Caruth Grant requirements. The EMS Liaison will work under moderate supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a grant support position for a defined period of no more than thirty (30) months.

Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years experience in public health education, marketing, public relations and/or community programs
Medical training as a Basic EMT or Corpsman level and at least three (3) years experience in EMS services or hospital programs required
Knowledge of EMS data collection processes and data definitions, including quality measures
Skill in the use of personal computer and software programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Skill in effective written and verbal communication
Skill in public speaking
Demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients
Ability and willingness to travel daily in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and work flexible hours
Project management experience preferred
